“I wrote the lyrics for the YSL song in about two days, which is probably my record so far. In short, when the inspiration is strong enough, it goes quickly. As for the meaning of the lyrics, the clip features a man, but the song is actually about a lady,” admits KETTIE, who does not hide her bisexual orientation. In the clip, she cut several titillating scenes.

“I wasn’t shy about the shoot, I knew that there would be more revealing scenes in order for the clip to match the lyrics, but my goal was to keep it to a decent and raunchy level, which I think I succeeded. I was filming with a cameraman whom I have known for a long time, and the actor Erik and I have also worked together on several projects, so I felt comfortable,” the singer describes the filming process.

Lenka Konvičková aka KETTIE recently also took part in the reality show Love Island and in addition to that she also has a successful single 5 lives and she definitely plans to continue creating.

“The next song will be in English and I named it Bittersweet game. Feats with leading Czech artists or Luo from Love Island are also on the horizon,” she revealed.

Ondřej Hrab created the theater concept, which does not pay attention to the boundaries between individual artistic genres or geographical boundaries. At the beginning of the nineties, Ondřej Hrab transformed the traditional repertoire of the E.F. Theater Buriana in the modern European scene under the name Archa Theatre. He also asserted his vision in the architecture of the theater, which after extensive reconstruction according to the designs of architect Ivan Plicka and set designer and theater technology expert Miroslav Melena, turned into a dynamically variable stage. The Ark space was designed to allow playing in an arena as well as a traditional peephole stage, creating a “dance space” and holding concerts for both standing and seated audiences.

During its existence, the Archa Theater introduced the Czech audience to world artists, including Robert Wilson, Peter Brook, Min Tanaka, John Cale, Allen Ginsberg, Peter Schumann, Anne Bogart, Wim Vandekeybus, David Byrne, Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker, Philip Glass, Meredith Monk, Einstürzende Neubauten, Diamanda Galas, The Residents, The Tiger Lillies, Heiner Goebbels, Squad, Dogtroep, Josse de Pauw, Pieter De Buysser, Lou Reed, Laurie Anderson and many more.

“In many cases we were ahead of our time. Even world-renowned artists, such as Robert Wilson, had to wait another 10 years for recognition by Czech theater critics,” says Ondřej Hrab.

In less than 30 years, 5,358 performances took place in Arš, which were visited by 1,082,799 spectators (this statistic will be supplemented by data from the last two weeks). The Ark could have had even more performances and audiences if its premises had not been completely destroyed by a flood in 2002 and the subsequent reconstruction had not required a break of more than a year. The Covid-19 pandemic, which paralyzed all public events for two years, similarly affected theater attendance. Both catastrophic events, as well as the grant crisis in 2008, meant for Archa a challenge to set out for new goals along untrodden paths. Ondřej Hrab together with the director Jana Svobodová were the first to focus on documentary theatre. They invited artists to involve representatives of different social groups in the theater creation, whether it was asylum seekers in refugee camps, small town residents or members of the hip-hop community.

Ondřej Hrab and Jana Svobodová founded the Akcent international festival, which discovered world representatives of documentary theater for the Czech audience – in the Archa Theater, for example, Lola Arias, Rimini Protokoll, Milo Rau, Wen Hui and She She Pop performed.

Václav Havel had a special connection to Archa Theatre. He celebrated his sixtieth birthday here in 1996 and in 2008 chose it as the location for the world premiere of his play Leaving. Václav Havel even appeared as a performer in the Misunderstanding 68 and Šance 89 projects.

The Czech artists who regularly created their productions at the Archa Theater also include artist and performer Petr Nikl, director Jiří Havelka, music composer Michal Nejtek and others. The couple Skutr, who today lead the National Theater’s drama, created their first productions here, or Rosťa Novák, who later founded his Cirk La Putyka. Writers Jaroslav Rudiš and Igor Malijevský presented their EKG Literary Cabaret here for fifteen years. In addition to its own projects, the dramaturgy of the Archa Theater gave space to productions and concerts by Czech artists. For example, productions of the Brno theaters Husa na provázku and HaDivadlo were regularly invited to Prague.

Archa also created projects abroad, in addition to Europe, in the USA, China or Japan. In 2019, the Archa Theatre’s production Ordinary People, directed by Jana Svobodová and Chinese choreographer Wen Hui, was presented in the main program of the Avignon World Festival and soon after at the Autumn Festival in Paris at the famous Théâtre de la Ville.

The Archa Theater under the direction of Ondřej Hrab will cease its activities at the end of December 2024 and the premises in Na Poříčí Street will be freed up for other activities. From 2024, Ondřej Hrab and Jana Svobodová, in the new organization Archa – Documentary Theater Center, will continue to devote themselves both at home and abroad to projects that connect education and creation in the field of documentary theater. For example, they will continue to organize the International Summer School of Documentary Theater, which is regularly attended by young theater artists from all over the world, from China, South Korea and Iran to Ireland and the USA. They will continue to organize the Akcent International Festival.

As one of the first theaters in Prague, the Archa Theater was transformed from a contribution organization to an independent non-profit organization. However, the transformation of the theater network did not continue from the beginning of the millennium. And so the Ark, together with the Drama Club and Semaphore, remained a residue of an unfinished transformation.

“Czech culture is desperately underfunded. Especially the sector of independent cultural organizations, to which the Archa Theater belongs, is on the verge of viability. It takes a lot of effort to put together a demanding non-commercial international program. I consider it a huge success that I managed to end the thirty-year era with a balanced budget, i.e. without debts, in other words,” says the founder and director of the Archa Theater Ondřej Hrab.

In a new composition, Peter Aristone delves into the symbolism of the carousel of dreams. The song reflects a life journey that moves in endless loops. Each of us has our own dreams and goals that we strive to achieve, and at the same time we are searching for a deeper meaning in life.

“The carousel of dreams is a kind of reflection of our life, where we are constantly trying and searching,” explains Aristone.

The music and lyrics for “Carousel of Dreams” were created in collaboration with the British songwriter Sacha Skarbek, who has collaborated with artists such as Adele and Miley Cyrus. Slovakian producer duo Tomas Lobb and Martin Zaujec of Beyond Music are behind the final sound of the track, while renowned American sound engineer Dale Becker took care of the mastering.

“With a song about mountains, we wanted to please everyone who has an overview, likes to look at things from above and is not afraid to step into it sometimes. We address everyone who goes to the mountains in winter or summer, for hikes, hikes, on foot and by bike or simply for whatever they like. We ourselves have a very intimate relationship with the mountains, after all, we all come from Jeseníky,” recalled the singer.

In addition to winning the Český slavík survey, the song Hory is also celebrating success on the radio, where it has been one of the most played singles for several months. The song is accompanied by the entire Mountains project, which includes the Czech Everest challenge, special merch for the mountains or the upcoming tour, which starts on December 9 at the ski area in Karlov pod Pradědem. The most successful Czech climber Radek Jaroš became the patron of the Hory project.

In Bohemian Nights, the songwriter and leader of the British group The Tiger Lillies Martyn Jacques thematically returns to the wild nineties, when Prague was the first foreign destination of the now famous band. Nostalgia, irony, harsh humor and plebeian language are among the basic features of their songs to this day.

“Tiger Lillies have a reputation as one of the most important avant-garde bands in the world. They collaborated, for example, with the Kronos Quartet or with the photographer Nan Goldin, they are winners of the Olivier Award for the opera Shockheaded Peter. Even years later, they continue to shock and entertain with their inimitable musical style, evoking the terrible magic of Berlin cabarets on the eve of war, combined with the wild edge of punk,” Archa theater director Ondřej Hrab invites to the concert.

The group was formed in 1989 in London, and their first trip abroad was to Prague, and then they often returned to the Czech Republic. At the beginning of the nineties, they performed in underground clubs and in local pubs throughout the country. In its 34 years of existence, it recorded 39 studio and live albums. Her attractive mix of Brechtian cabaret, punk and songwriting won her fans not only with spontaneous concerts, but also with the literary and musical quality of her songs. As interest in their concerts grew, so did the halls in which the band performed, until they finally found their home in Prague’s Archa. The Tiger Lilles will say goodbye to the theater, which will end its activities this year, on December 2. Tickets are on sale in advance in the GoOut network.

In August 2023, the bands NO NAME and Nocadeň presented a music video for the title song V povolnom zenení, which foreshadowed the release of a new album, but also a joint Czech-Slovak tour, which will start in the city that is the home of both bands, Košice, and end with a grand finale 20 4. 2024 in O2 universum Prague. It will also stop in Bratislava, Ostrava and Brno.

The duet of Igor Timek and Rasta Kopina from Nocadeň came about very naturally. Igor and Rasť are former classmates from the State Conservatory in Košice, where they even sat on the same bench. “Igor and I have been friends for many years since high school. After my return to the conservatory, we even sat in the same class and desk. And I also remember how Igor played me their first demo recordings. Our destinies are quite intertwined, so a joint song is only a logical outcome. We both knew what we could expect from each other after so many years, but I still feel that we were able to surprise each other a little,” says Rasťo Kopina with a smile.

“Nocadeň are exceptional in terms of authorship and poetics. From the new song, I have the feeling that we are drawing each other into other worlds and other poetics. Rasťo is a perceptive and sensitive person, we have known each other since our student years. We were fifteen and studied at the music drama field. I think our cooperation was not a question of why, but when,” confided Igor Timko.

The new album In its original form was released almost eight years after the release of the album With Love from 2016. The album contains 11 tracks, which opens with the instrumental song Šumava, inspired by the life of keyboardist Zoltán Šallai and his family in the picturesque town of Nýrsko. It is followed by the well-known Elity hit, the third single is the mentioned duet with Nocadeň. Fans also know the song Vianoce s Božidara, which the band presented last Christmas. It is a duet with Slovak actress and professor Božidara Turzonovová. The album In the original version will also be released physically on December 5, 2023.

“Since the release of our last album, ideas have gradually started to come. We are once again sticking to our defined principle: Sing what you feel and live what you sing. It is quite natural for our generation of forty-somethings to realize that we are in the middle of a growing up process, maybe in the middle of a life journey . And it is during this period that a person needs a sense of security, the knowledge that he can rely on someone, that he knows where he belongs. Wings grow only for those who believe in others. Confrontation with oneself and with life is the awaited moment”, concludes Igor Timko .

If a household uses subsidies from the New Green Savings program today, the costs will normally be recouped within 10 years, often even sooner. This is five times shorter than the normal lifetime of the measure. Czechs are still delaying investments in insulation, and most are confused about what steps to take to properly insulate the house, what layer of insulation to use or how to choose the final facade plaster. That is why we have prepared eight tips for you to proceed correctly during the insulation of your property. We will also advise what to avoid.

1. WHERE TO FIND INFORMATION?

Ask those closest to you first. Whether they are relatives or acquaintances. Get first-hand information from them, such as their experience with insulation, or if they know someone who has recently had insulation. If there is no such person in your area, look for a construction company that should also provide you with the first information.

“As a next step, we recommend seeking the services of a designer. It is necessary to assess what suits your house. Feel free to search on the Internet for an initial idea, we recommend the websites of manufacturers of insulation systems. There you can find information, including instructions and a contact for a sales representative who is able to advise,” says Karolína Bočková, product manager of Austrotherm CZ, a manufacturer of high-quality thermal and sound insulation. At the same time, he recommends that you also take an interest in the offer of available subsidy programs and financing options at novazelenausporam.cz.

2. MEASURE WHERE YOUR HEAT LEAKS

Whether and to what extent heat is escaping in your house can be roughly determined at the beginning with a thermal camera. They will lend you this, for example, at tool rental shops or rental shops of large construction chains. Most likely, the most common places of leakage will be detected: building openings or the area of lintels and cornices.

3. CHOOSE WHAT NEEDS TO BE HEATED IN THE HOUSE

The perimeter walls, roof, plinth area or floor can be insulated as needed. An expert will advise you on this. External perimeter walls are most often dealt with. By insulating them, we can protect the structure of the house from frost and excessive summer heat. Attention, high-quality insulation will also limit the risk of moisture condensation and the formation of mold and has a benefit in terms of a favorable and healthy microclimate in the house.

4. HOW THICK INSULATION WILL I NEED?

Experts will advise you. Last year, for example, the average thickness of thermal insulation of facades was roughly 16 centimeters. “Thermal insulation is only part of the composition of the structure, which must be assessed in terms of thermal insulation properties as a whole. For example, for the new green energy saving Light, the required minimum insulation thickness is 20 centimeters of EPS 70F,” says Tomáš Novotný from the technical department of Austrotherm CZ. According to him, the thickness of thermal insulation is still increasing as a reaction to rising energy prices and the efforts of households to save as much as possible. Thermal insulation of the house is definitely a returnable investment.

5. POLYSTYRENE VS. OTHER INSULATION MATERIALS

It is most often used to insulate polystyrene. Unlike other materials, handling it does not require any special protective work equipment such as a respirator, gloves, etc. In addition, polystyrene is a healthy material with a long life and is 100% recyclable. If you would like high-quality insulation, but you do not want the house to expand by up to 20 centimeters, there are also special polystyrenes on the market that have the same thermal insulation properties with a smaller material thickness.

6. HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO WARM THE HOUSE AND HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?

Insulating a house is not a long-term process. It is possible to handle it well in just a few weeks. The price of complete insulation depends on the materials used and ranges from 1000 to 2000 CZK/m2.

7. HOW TO CHOOSE A FACADE PLASTER?

Facade plaster is the final top layer that determines the overall impression of the house. Its structure, color design as well as shape accents of decorative elements in the form of chamfers or cornices complete the entire work. We recommend that you always consult with an architect for a specific situation.

8. HOW MUCH WILL I SAVE ON ENERGY WHEN I HEATING THE ENTIRE HOUSE

The building insulation guild has calculated examples of savings in the insulation of a family house under normal climatic and user conditions. Depending on the period in which the house was built and the typical materials used in those periods, heat consumption for heating can be reduced by 15 to 46% depending on the type of building. And what should be avoided when warming up? First of all, pay attention to the substrate on which the thermal insulation is glued. It is extremely important that it is clean and cohesive. It is necessary to remove all parts that fall off, are blown off, etc. The thickness of the polystyrene is also important, a smaller thickness does not save anything, because the thickness of the insulation represents only a negligible part of the insulation costs. If we choose an insufficient thickness or completely neglect to insulate some parts of the building envelope, e.g. the area of the plinth, then we expose ourselves to the risk of mold.

“A common mistake is also the failure to fill any gaps between the polystyrene boards with insulation blanks or suitable foam. If this is not done, then in the case of applying the base layer, the glue will be pushed into the joint, and in the future this will be reflected in the rendering of the boards on the facade when the humidity changes. It is the same with plate dowels that have been hammered in too much. This can be solved using recessed mounting with EPS plugs,” says Novotný from Austrotherm, adding that the facade should not be insulated in winter, but at least at five degrees above zero.
