Raw drums, spare bass and an emotional, melancholic statement about the risks that come with opening up to a new relationship. This is the current single of Czechoslovak singer Karin Ann “if i fall for you”. The dark pop ballad will appeal to everyone who wished to see beyond the horizon of the first heady days in a new relationship.
“The song is about periods in life when you meet someone and start to feel something for them. It’s about the initial stages when you don’t know much about your new partner, but you romanticize him and imagine what you could experience together and what your relationship would look like,” Karin Ann describes.
The dark shadows of a new relationship, reflected in the mood of the song, represent the fears that come hand in hand with almost every new love. “Perhaps because you’ve experienced disappointment in the past, you’re afraid of every negative signal and you’re afraid to fall in love again because you don’t want to go through all that again,” adds Karin.
The song “if i fall for you”, which the singer co-wrote with Grammy Award winner Martin Teref (Jason Mraz, James Morrison, KT Tunstall), follows Karin Ann’s latest single “for a moment”. He scored in Spotify’s New Music Friday, Fresh Finds Pop or EQUAL SZ&SK European playlists.
In addition to music, Karin Ann has been involved for a long time as a supporter of LGBTQIA+ and minority rights. She won numerous awards for her work, including best video clip at the Munich Music Awards and discovery of the year at the Žebřík Awards in the Czech Republic. In August 2021, she made history as the first Slovak artist to be featured on a billboard in Times Square as part of Spotify’s EQUAL Music Program. Last year she played several concerts with the band Imagine Dragons or the singer LP.
