Hard Rock Cafe Praha and Hard Rock International are once again teaming up with their world ambassador Lionel Messi and presenting a new dish on the chicken sandwich menu: Messi Chicken Sandwich – Made For You by Leo Messi. The new sandwich is inspired by one of the soccer legend’s childhood favorite Argentinian dishes, milanesa, a dish based on Italian veal milanese.
The launch of the new sandwich is perfectly timed, synchronizing with Messi’s recent entry into Major League Soccer. It is possible to taste the novelty in all Hard Rock Cafe branches around the world.
“I am excited to introduce the flavors of my home country to the world and launch my own chicken sandwich, which is inspired by one of my favorite dishes, Milanese steak,” said Lionel Messi. “There was no better partner in bringing it to life than Hard Rock International. Like any great teammate, Hard Rock has lived with me through historic milestones, and I can’t wait for my fans around the world to taste one of my childhood favorites that still makes I feel at home wherever I am in the world.”
The Messi Chicken Sandwich is inspired by Messi’s love of the Argentinian delicacy milanesa, which is based on the Italian dish of veal milanese and came to South America during the mass immigration of Italians at the turn of the 20th century. Messi’s chicken sandwich is a crispy Milanese chicken breast with melted provolone cheese and herb aioli. Served on a toasted bun with fresh tomatoes and arugula.
“We are happy that we can continue our cooperation with the world icon Lionel Messi,” says the general manager of Hard Rock Cafe Prague, Martina Lednová. “Since the Messi Burger appeared on our menu last year, it immediately became a hit, customers they could not praise him. Our entire team and I are very much looking forward to the guests being able to taste this new product, which will certainly not disappoint them again,” he adds.
The new chicken sandwich is also accompanied by a campaign called Greatness Happens Here, which begins the next era of Hard Rock International’s partnership with Messi and builds on the successful LIVE GREATNESS and Messi Burger campaign that launched in March 2022. In November 2022, the brand also launched a merch collection and a special edition of fans of Messi’s favorite burger – Champion’s Edition.
