The video clip “if i fall for you” was created earlier this year in Los Angeles, USA. Karin Ann also participated in the video clip herself – she came up with an inspiring theme and then entrusted the direction to the American creative duo TUSK (Olivia Mitchell and Kerry Furrh), whose videos are regularly mentioned by renowned music magazines such as Rolling Stone and Billboard. The creative team from overseas chose analog technology to shoot the video clip, which is clearly reflected in the filmic atmosphere of the clip. Daniel Ferrell (Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, Thor: Love and Thunder) starred alongside Karin Ann, and Soyana Pigniat and Issabella Barraza appeared in supporting roles.

The dark pop ballad “if i fall for you” will appeal to everyone who has wished to look beyond the horizon of the first heady days of a budding relationship. Karin explains: “The song is about the times in life when you get to know someone and start to feel something for them. It’s about the early stages when you don’t know much about new partners, but you’re romanticizing your partner and imagining what you could experience together and what your relationship would be like.” This also reflects the mood of the song – it represents the fears that come hand in hand with almost every a new love. “For example, because you’ve experienced disappointment in the past, you get scared of every negative signal and then you’re afraid to fall in love again because you don’t want to go through all that again,” adds Karin.

If i fall for you was written by Karin Ann together with Grammy award-winning Swedish producer and songwriter Martin Terefe, currently based in London, who has produced Grammy, Brit and Juno award-winning albums by Jason Mraz, James Morrison and KT Tunstall. The music was mixed by two-time Grammy winner Mitch McCarthy, who is behind the sound of Olivia Rodrigo’s biggest hit “drivers license”

The Los Angeles Film Awards is an international film festival that gives space to filmmakers from around the world through regular awards in various categories. It awards audiovisual creations in traditional categories such as best video clip, best documentary, best drama, best student film, etc.; evaluates technical professions and behind-the-scenes teams of films such as direction, camera, sound, visual effects, costumes, etc.; and also covers narrow-profile special categories such as directorial debut, virtual reality, best trailer, film noir, LGBTQ, inspirational woman in film and many others. The festival awards films on a monthly basis and then evaluates the best projects in the year-long finale. During the 8 years of its existence, the project has established itself as a positively evaluated incubator of film talents directly in Hollywood.

The jury of the Los Angeles Film Awards is made up of experts from various fields of cinematography, from actors to direction, script or production, who have worked together on the films Avatar, Grey’s Anatomy, S.W.A.T., Star Trek: Prodigy, The Woman in the House over the Street from the Girl in the Window etc.

“Even if what you’re going through makes you who you are, it doesn’t always make you stronger. Sometimes it causes you trauma or problems that you then have to go through that can affect your life. And people expect you not to be sad or angry about it afterwards,” Karin Ann reflects, admitting that writing the song was also a form of therapy for her. 

“It’s about accepting the bad things you’ve been through, it’s about accepting that healing takes time, and that it’s okay to not feel good. It’s about accepting everything that happened and taking conscious steps to heal,” says the singer, who takes a similar view of the phrase “time heals.”  

“According to him, you should forget about how bad the things you went through were. But even that won’t magically heal you unless you take conscious steps to heal,” she muses.  

The track “for a moment” offers a pleasant atmospheric sound that is sure to engage the listener. Mitch McCarthy, the man behind the sound of Olivia Rodrigo’s biggest hit Drivers License, took on the musical mix.  

In addition to music, Karin Ann has long been an advocate for LGBTQ+ and minority rights. She has won numerous awards for her work, including Best Music Video at the Munich Music Awards and Discovery of the Year at the Zebrik Awards in the Czech Republic. In August 2021, she made history as the first Slovak artist to be featured on a Times Square billboard as part of Spotify’s EQUAL Music Program.

Karin Ann then pulled a rainbow flag out of her purse during a performance of her song “Babyboy”, wrapped herself in it and said, “I would like to dedicate this song today to LGBTQ+ and minorities in Poland. I know you don’t have it easy. I wish you to feel safe, I am here for you, I love you and thank you.”  

On the fact that her famous colleagues followed up her gesture a year later, she says: “It’s worrying what’s happening in Poland. That’s why I’m glad that others have joined my voice, together we have a chance to change things,” says the singer.  

Singer Mel C has said on her social media and in the media that she can’t perform somewhere where the views and attitudes of the community so fundamentally diverge from hers. Will.i.am of the Black Eyed Peas said they wanted to support people and groups who face hateful behaviour from mainstream society with their performance.  

Karin Ann, who was the first Slovakian woman to be cast by the world’s largest music streaming platform Spotify on a giant billboard in New York’s Times Square as part of its Spotify Equal programme and was voted Discovery of the Year in the Czech Republic’s Ladder music poll, has opened for Imagine Dragons and My Chemical Romance in the past year and has also played sold-out concerts for British singer YUNGBLUD and American star LP.  On January 27, 2023, after a creative hiatus of almost half a year, she releases a new single “for a moment”, on which she collaborated with Mitch McCarthy, winner of 2 Grammy nominations and collaborating with such stellar names as Olivia Rodrigo and Meghan Trainor.
